Everything fell into place for me last week. It was as if all the questions and disappointments and bad financial choices I'd ever made, suddenly became clear to me.
It's all so simple and yet somehow I had never seen it for myself.
It began with the statement written above. And it suddenly occurred to me that I had to think the same whenever I thought/think about buying anything other than a necessity. So for example if I find myself on the brink of buying something, I have to say to myself, for example," Is this ticket for the movies at $25 worth an hour/half an hour of my time/freedom to earn this amount?" If yes, because it is important to me to go to the movies, then I can pass GO and collect $200. But if my nose wrinkles and I think "Pooh, I wouldn't spend half an hour of my freedom in exchange to see that movie", then I know to give it a miss. It's really simple, but damn effective...How I wish I'd known this 30 years ago!
Oh well, live and learn.
